- Evolving Systems Wins Contract to Support Onetel's Move to Next Generation
Activation and Number Management
ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO - Evolving Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ-EVOL) announced today that it has entered into a contract with Onetel, one of the UK's largest integrated communications service providers with over 1.8 million residential and business customers for fixed, mobile and internet services. Onetel will deploy Evolving Systems' next generation subscriber activation, number inventory and ordering gateway solutions.
The selection was made as part of Onetel's "Evolution" program,
in which Onetel will replace core components of its OSS/BSS systems to create
an integrated system to support a number of brands, with a flexible migration
strategy to minimize business risk and enable fast product deployment and speed
to market. Onetel selected Evolving Systems' Tertio™ activation solution,
OrderPath® ordering gateway and NumeriTrack® number inventory management
product. The combination and integration of these three OSS solutions will
enable Onetel to take new services to market quicker and at a lower cost, allowing
the company to respond to the increasing pace of change in the telecoms market.
"We needed to replace our legacy infrastructure with next-generation systems
that will help us support future business models while maintaining an efficient,
flexible and low-cost delivery capability" said Phil Pavitt, CIO at Onetel. "Evolving
Systems was short-listed from an initial list of nine vendors. After a detailed
competitive evaluation of three vendors' technology and business capability,
we selected Evolving Systems because it clearly offered the best-in-class solutions
for service activation, number porting and management, combined with a strong
track record of supporting bundled services and improving service delivery
efficiency."
Stephen Gartside, President and CEO of Evolving Systems remarked, "We look forward to helping Onetel succeed as it continues to offer a greater choice for UK subscribers. This contract reinforces Evolving Systems' reputation as an experienced partner to our customers. This win is particularly noteworthy as it represents our first order since our acquisition of Tertio Telecoms in November of last year from a new customer for both our activation and numbering solutions products."
Evolving Systems' Tertio solution provides a single platform for the activation of complex, next-generation services across multi-vendor networks. The Tertio solution is used by some of the world's most advanced and demanding operators to activate voice, data and content services. Operators benefit from a lower cost of ownership and functionality that helps them gain the competitive edge and provide a higher quality of service.
OrderPath is an inter-carrier ordering gateway solution that supports operators' data exchange requirements. It isolates and manages critical data exchanges, such as number portability, ENUM, directory enquiries and emergency services data, enabling other OSS and BSS systems to focus on their primary functions.
NumeriTrack is Evolving Systems' number management system used by operators to manage their telephone number inventory for all types of numbers: Mobile, fixed line and VoIP. It also supports multiple billing systems as well as full integration with local number portability systems. Implementation of NumeriTrack can result in efficiency gains, better data integrity and simpler management of inventory.
The financial terms of the contract are undisclosed.
